Julien Smith.  (via nicosadako)You don’t know anyone at the party, so you don’t want to go. You don’t like cottage cheese, so you haven’t eaten it in years. This is your choice, of course, but don’t kid yourself: it’s also the flinch.

Your personality is not set in stone. You may think a morning coffee is the most enjoyable thing in the world, but it’s really just a habit. Thirty days without it, and you would be fine. You think you have a soul mate, but in fact you could have had any number of spouses. You would have evolved differently, but been just as happy.

You can change what you want about yourself at any time. You see yourself as someone who can’t write or play an instrument, who gives in to temptation or makes bad decisions, but that’s really not you. It’s not ingrained. It’s not your personality. Your personality is something else, something deeper than just preferences, and these details on the surface, you can change anytime you like.

If it is useful to do so, you must abandon your identity and start again. Sometimes, it’s the only way.

Set fire to your old self. It’s not needed here. It’s too busy shopping, gossiping about others, and watching days go by and asking why you haven’t gotten as far as you’d like. This old self will die and be forgotten by all but family, and replaced by someone who makes a difference.

Your new self is not like that. Your new self is the Great Chicago Fire—overwhelming, overpowering, and destroying everything that isn’t necessary.

Beyond a hundred steps of wisdom,
I will be free from good and bad.
Behind the veils, I will find
such splendor, such beauty
that I will fall in love
with myself.

cruelbutkind:

has it ever occurred to you that you could change your life right this second if you really wanted to?  you could stand up and yell at your teacher if you wanted to, you could place yourself in a life or death situation if you wanted, you could even take that risk and just spontaneously and passionately kiss the one you really love by surprise.  you could change the entire outcome of our lives, and if our lives are really as bad as we say they are, why won’t we take those chances.

people hating on ke$ha more like

stop

she’s a parody artist omfg

how do people not see that

wait really?

her songs revolve around partying, booze and objectifying men

but she has an IQ of over 160

she took classes on the Cold War at a college for fun in high school

she’s a feminist and an LGBTIQ supporter

yes

i think she’s a parody artist

she’s too OTT to not be

and considering her personal views i think she’s playing a character

La'La Land: silentfrenzies: I can perhaps even imagine (though it is not easy)...

silentfrenzies:

I can perhaps even imagine (though it is not easy) that each of the people whom I see in the street is in frightful pain, but is adroitly concealing it. And it is important that I have to imagine adroit concealment here. That I do not simply say to myself: “Well, his mind is…

If you want to kill yourself, kill what you don’t like. Kill narcissus. I had an old self that I killed. You can kill yourself too, but that doesn’t mean you got to stop living.

: You have only fallen in love with the idea of him. And I assure you...

dreamongood:

You have only fallen in love with the idea of him. And I assure you that if you had the chance to peer deep down inside his mind and unravel the depths of his heart, you will only leave disappointed.

That is why you must clear your mind of judgment and allow him to fill in the blanks for you….

I hear ghosts in the radiators

So its almost 4am, I half-assedly finished an assignment. I don’t care. I’m tired. I’ll probably sleep for two, 3 hours tops. I have class from 8 am until 12. Then I have work at 2pm until 6 and I have a midterm Friday that I have not studied for, oops. I don’t cre right now. All I want is sleep and the feel of comforter and sheets. Apparently some person who lives in my building was featured on tumblr’s poetry spotlight. He’s good. Surprisingly enough despite being a complete hipster/scene kid.Emo,emo emo. One of his quick lines was something about seeing or looking at his past self and how they still have the same eyes and still carry the same melancholy. His past self can’t see him (present self) but can see the past. The weird interval and perspective and its amazing how it was what? 2 lines and he conveyed so much and I’m jealous and I want to write and I see my past self all the time, 2,4 years and we’re still the same.

We are dying from overthinking. We are slowly killing ourselves by thinking about everything. Think. Think. Think. You can never trust the human mind anyway. It’s a death trap.
